I was often asked the same questions when I was single, and received much the same responses. Something that really puzzles me to this day, however, is how often I hear on a program or the news or wherever, that Miss X "found herself pregnant". Unless I was misinformed by my mother, Miss X has to have done something that resulted in pregnancy! But so often it's referred to almost like lightning struck poor little Miss X and she just has the worst luck....

Something I read recently reminded me of this. Years ago when I was single and would go in for my annual pap smear, I would seem to always get similar questions and responses to this one, from both the male and female doctors...
Do you think you might be pregnant?
No.
What kind of birth control are you using?
None.
Then how do you know you're not pregnant?
Abstinence.
It always surprised me how shocked they were.
