My husband and I have been separated since October 2003. My daughter and I are so much happier now but unfortunately, I was stuck with lots of our old bills to pay. Of course, my husband doesn't want to know anything. He thinks I make so much money because I am a teacher. I also, have many new bills to pay because we are renting a flat, etc. My car payment is high because he ruined our credit by gambling household money away at the Casino. He hasn't helped pay for anything since we separated. I haven't had the money to get legal help yet but I know that I have to because our daughter is going to college this fall. Even though it is a SUNY school with room, board, tuition etc. it will cost $15,000 a year for her to attend. I do ok as a teacher, money wise, but I can not come up with that much money in order to help her go away to school. I was told that she can borrow only so much and that I could take out a $11,000 parent loan. I won't qualify though because my credit is now ruined. I was told that I had to still apply and then get turned down. She will be able to take out some different type of loans but it won't be enough. I am asking people to please pray that there is some type of solution, so that she can go away to school. It's not her fault that we have bad credit. I talked to my husband about the situation but he just shrugs his shoulders and looks to me for all the answers, as usual. His father has lots of money but he doesn't want to ask him to help our daughter because he is already helping HIM out financially. Of course he always thinks of himself first. That's one of the reasons that I left him.
